Flat6Labs, a leading seed and early-stage venture capital firm in the MENA region, has joined forces with Tamwilcom, Morocco’s national credit guarantee agency, to launch a new accelerator program targeting innovative startups in Morocco. The collaboration was officially unveiled at GITEX Africa 2025, reflecting the strategic importance of nurturing entrepreneurial talent across high-growth sectors. The initiative builds on a previous agreement signed between Tamwilcom and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in December 2023, reinforcing the momentum toward a more dynamic startup ecosystem in the country.

Focus on High-Potential and Strategic Sectors

The accelerator program will prioritize startups working in key industries aligned with Morocco’s digital transformation goals. These include AgriTech, FinTech, Industry 4.0, CleanTech, Healthcare, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data, among others. By directing resources and expertise toward these sectors, the initiative aims to catalyze innovation that supports national development priorities and economic diversification.

Enhancing Support for Early-Stage Startups

Under the new partnership, Flat6Labs will be responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive acceleration program that includes technical mentorship, business development services, and access to funding opportunities. The goal is to enable participating startups to structure their operations, scale effectively, and secure venture capital investment both locally and internationally. Flat6Labs’ proven track record in supporting high-impact startups across the region positions it as a valuable partner in elevating Morocco’s startup ecosystem.

Backed by International Finance and Local Commitment

This initiative reflects the broader ambition shared by local and international stakeholders to empower Morocco’s private sector as a driver of inclusive and sustainable growth. According to David Tinel, IFC’s Regional Representative for the Maghreb, the partnership will help improve access to early-stage financing for startups, a critical factor in their long-term success. The collaboration also aligns with the World Bank Group’s strategy to stimulate job creation and technological innovation through private-sector-led development.

Leadership Views on Impact and Vision

Hicham Zanati Serghini, General Manager of Tamwilcom, emphasized that the partnership underscores the institution’s enduring commitment to supporting Moroccan entrepreneurs. He noted that Flat6Labs’ expertise in accelerating startups will enhance the fundraising readiness and operational maturity of Moroccan innovators. The program is seen as a crucial step in bridging the gap between startup ideation and sustainable business growth.

Building a Competitive and Resilient Ecosystem

Yehia Houry, Chief Programs Officer at Flat6Labs, highlighted that the core mission of the accelerator aligns with Flat6Labs’ DNA: empowering high-impact startups with the tools and support they need to thrive. The initiative seeks not only to fast-track startup development but also to structure a more competitive and innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystem in Morocco. Through this structured approach, both partners aim to foster long-term economic resilience and regional competitiveness.

The launch of this accelerator program marks a significant milestone in Morocco’s journey to become a regional innovation hub. By combining local financial infrastructure with regional expertise in venture acceleration, the partnership between Tamwilcom and Flat6Labs sets a new precedent for public-private collaboration. As Morocco continues to embrace digital transformation, initiatives like this one will be critical in unlocking the potential of its next generation of entrepreneurs.
